Modern Craft Construction is a boutique residential remodeling and construction company located in San Francisco. Our mission is to restore and revitalize homes into modern, luxurious living spaces, while maintaining the aesthetic charm and character that San Francisco architecture is known for.
We specialize in all phases of residential remodeling, additions, renovations and seismic upgrades. We pride ourselves on our commitment to quality, high-end craftsmanship, and attention to detail. We are known for our professionalism and integrity in everything we do. We work carefully with our clients and strive to meet their needs and expectations. We always have our clients’ best interests at heart and are proud to be able to turn their vision into reality.
We distinguish our work in that we both manage and build almost everything from start to finish. We maintain strong partnerships with local architects, engineers, and designers. We work only with a select group of committed, quality subcontractors to ensure quality, reliability, and timeliness. We believe in the importance of careful project management to ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget.
John Lyng, Owner
John Lyng was born and raised on the family farm in Wexford, Ireland. He studied at Limerick Regional Technology focusing on business marketing. John had long been interested in woodworking and fine carpentry so when he moved to San Francisco in 1998, he pursued a career in residential building construction. He gained his carpentry and construction management skills and aesthetic understanding of San Francisco architecture working with quality builders. John created Modern Craft Construction to further his passion for restoring and renovating San Francisco homes into modern, luxurious living spaces with a focus on fine craftsmanship and quality workmanship. John resides in the Miraloma District of San Francisco with his wife and daughter.
